Work with Children Young People their Families and Carers (MSc) - Full Time - Course Map

Each module taken by a student has a credit value (measured in Credit Accumulation and Transfer [CAT] points). Approximately 10 hours of total study time is required per CAT credit. A full-time year is equivalent to 180 CATs for students on a Postgraduate course. To achieve a postgraduate award a student must accumulate a particular number of CATs at Level 7 as illustrated below: Masters Degree: 180 CATs

Students on the MSc Work With Children, Young People, Their Families And Carers (Advanced Level Social Work) must pass SWP405, SWP406, SWP408, SWP409, APH499 and SWP444, plus another 20 CATs from a postgraduate programme.

To complete your programme you must pass the following compulsory modules:
APH444: Dissertation 60
APH499: Methods of Enquiry 20
SWP405: Inter-agency Working to Improve Outcomes for Children 20
To complete your programme you must pass a minimum of 20 credits from the following:
PPD404: Employability IV 20
PPD406: Mentoring and Coaching IV 20
To complete your programme you must pass a minimum of 40 credits from the following:
SWP406: Law, Policy and Practice in Work with Children, Young People, their Families and Carers 20
SWP408: Evidence Based Assessment and Critical Decision-making with Children, Young People and Families 20
SWP409: Evidence Based Planning and Intervention with Vulnerable Children, Young People and Families 20
To complete your programme you must pass a minimum of 20 credits from the following:
APH407: Teaching, Learning and Assessment in Practice 20
APH408: Work Based Learning 20
APH498: Independent Study 20
PPD404: Employability IV 20
