Criminology (MSc) - Full Time - Course Map

Each module taken by a student has a credit value (measured in Credit Accumulation and Transfer [CAT] points). Approximately 10 hours of total study time is required per CAT credit. A full-time year is equivalent to 180 CATs for students on a Postgraduate course. To achieve a postgraduate award a student must accumulate a particular number of CATs at Level 7 as illustrated below: Masters Degree: 180 CATs

To complete your programme you must pass the following compulsory modules:
NSS401: Professional Skills
Restrictions: Cannot be counted with FPY404		 15
NSS403: Research for Professional Practice
Restrictions: Cannot be counted with RM499(BPY), RM499(OPY), FPY499 or NSS404		 15
NSS455: Dissertation 60
To complete your programme you must pass a minimum of 30 credits from the following:
NSS451: Violent crime: crime scene investigation and forensic narratives 30
NSS452: Community Engagement and Crime Reduction 30
NSS453: International Security, Crime, Terrorism and Conflict 30
To complete your programme you must pass a minimum of 30 credits from the following:
NSS451: Violent crime: crime scene investigation and forensic narratives 30
NSS452: Community Engagement and Crime Reduction 30
NSS453: International Security, Crime, Terrorism and Conflict 30
Other modules that can be counted toward your programme include:
COM471: Information Security 20
NSS402: The Practitioner Consultant
Restrictions: Cannot be counted with OPY401		 15
NSS421: Psychology, Investigation and the Legal Process
Restrictions: Cannot be counted with FPY402 and FPY405		 30
NSS422: Offenders: Causes, Assessment and Treatment
Restrictions: Cannot be taken with FPY401, and FPY405		 30
NSS423: Issues in Sexual Offending 15
NSS432: Understanding Mental Health and Illness 15
