Brief Description | The use of evidence-based practice (EBP) is increasingly influencing the practice of many applied social science disciplines. EBP involves a process of decision-making that integrates research evidence, assessments of effectiveness, practitioner expertise and judgment and a critical evaluation of the best available research evidence involving service user/organisation/stake holder/or employer perspectives. It is about using the best available external evidence from systematic research in order to reach decisions for one’s own specific circumstances. Students will become familiar with qualitative and quantitative methodologies, descriptive and inferential statistics, and systematic reviews. Particular attention will be afforded to the ability to critically appraise and synthesize high quality research in peer reviewed journals. |
