Brief Description

This workplace module builds on YSP133. Learners will be required to demonstrate the ability to use the approaches to planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluating their practice with young people appropriate to their specialism. This may be in a role in which they are supporting a professionally qualified worker. They will also need to demonstrate partnership working with other organisations and young people. Competence is demonstrated against selected National Occupational Standards and will be supported in practice by a Fieldwork Supervisor.

Indicative Syllabus

This module will cover the following topics:

  • methods of integrating service delivery in collaboration with others;
  • methods of working with volunteers;
  • methods of enabling young people to fully participate in decision making
Learning Outcomes

i. Knowledge and Understanding
On successful completion of the module students should be able to:
a) Appreciate and apply the regulatory, policy and ethical context of their area of practice;
b) Analyse the processes needed for working alongside other organisations and with volunteers and colleagues.



ii. Skills
On successful completion of the module the student should be able to:
a) Work in collaboration with other workers;
b) Manage self, time and professional development.

Learning and Teaching Activities

Staff / student contact: 10% (Fieldwork Supervisor)
Fieldwork practice: 60%
Student directed learning: 30%

002: 10% Coursework: Standard: 200 words or equivalent
