Pre-requisites Before taking this module you must pass 30 credits from YIP133 or ( pass 15 credits from YIP134 and pass 15 credits from YIP135 ) and pass 15 credits from YIP234

Brief Description This workplace module builds on YIP133. Learners will be required to demonstrate the ability to use the approaches to planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluating their practice with young people appropriate to their specialism. They will also need to demonstrate partnership working with other organisations and young people. Competence is demonstrated against selected National Occupational Standards and will be supported in practice by a Fieldwork Supervisor.
Indicative Syllabus

This module will cover the following topics:

  • methods of integrating service delivery;
  • methods of working with volunteers;
  • methods of enabling young people to fully participate in decision making
Learning Outcomes

i. Knowledge and Understanding
On successful completion of the module students should be able to:

a) Analyse the processes needed for working alongside other organisations and with volunteers and colleagues
b) Analyse the processes needed to enable young people to participate in decision making about the service.



ii. Skills
On successful completion of the module the student should be able to:

a) Work with, support and motivate other workers;
b) Manage self, time and professional development.

Learning and Teaching Activities

Staff / student contact: 10% (Fieldwork Supervisor)
Fieldwork practice: 60%
Student directed learning: 30%
