Brief Description

This practical module challenges students to apply experimental approaches drawn from experience of cross-disciplinary work. It provides an important bridge between previous experience and future objectives providing a foundation for research and conceptualisation that will inform thinking, preparation and resolution for the final Masters module. Students develop a proposal that will demonstrate the creative extension of their individual practice They will be encouraged to take risks and not to follow a safe route in achieving objectives. The module invites students to challenge their discipline and its apparent strictures.

Indicative Syllabus

The module builds on VCO401 and with that experience of cross disciplinary working students should feel free to experiment, to be innovative and provocative; to question existing practice, but to do so from a critically informed position.

A written proposal, including research and methodologies for realising and presenting finished work will provide the basis for the learning agreement to be signed off by tutor.

The student may choose to continue to realize work through cross-disciplinary practice. There is alternatively the option to work predominantly in one discipline. However, this type of proposal will need to demonstrate integration and application of thinking and techniques acquired through a cross- disciplinary approach and demonstrating an evolution of previous practice.
