Brief Description | This module aims to develop a student's understanding and knowledge of some of the main theoretical paradigms used in visual communications, mass communications and media production. Emphasis will be placed upon developing advanced academic research abilities and an understanding of applying theories in practical contexts. |
Indicative Syllabus | This module will expand upon students’ knowledge of the continuities in visual communications, mass communications and media production theory by studying approaches to the analysis of mass communication in the media and arts more generally. Students will have the opportunity to focus upon an area of study that they wish to specialize in and which connects with their career aspirations. Delivery of the module will be supported by a series of guest lecturers discussing more specialized areas within visual communications, mass communications and media production, such as graphic design, international journalism, and film theory. |
