Brief Description This module studies the basic principles and practices of Human Resource Management applied to the Leisure Industries. It will equip students with skills and knowledge relevant to future management careers. Content includes Recruitment and Selection, Appraisal, Training and Development, Reward Systems and Employee Relations.
Indicative Syllabus
Learning Outcomes

i. Knowledge and Understanding
On completion of this module students should be able to:
a) understand and discuss the scope of Human Resource Management in relation to the leisure industries and to other management functions
b) explain, analyse and defend the principles and procedures normally associated with the key human resource management practices including, Recruitment and Selection, Appraisal, Training and Development, Reward Systems and Employee Relations



ii. Skills
Students will be given the opportunity to develop their key skills in the following areas during the course of this module

Area 5: Working with others
Area 7: Specific vocational skills
The ability to make a constructive and well informed contribution within the context of a formal meeting or discussion
