Brief Description This module provides students with skills in New Testament Greek. It is intended for those who have some previous background in the language and develops their skills to an advanced level.
Indicative Syllabus This module develops students’ understanding of the grammar, syntax and vocabulary of the Greek New Testament and provides practical reading and translation exercises based on the New Testament. The final assignment requires close and sophisticated analysis of a Greek text, critical assessment of established translations and in-depth evaluation of scholarly perspectives.
Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of the module students should be able to:

  • demonstrate a sophisticated understanding of the key elements of the grammar and an advanced command of the core vocabulary of New Testament Greek;
  • show an advanced ability to use New Testament Greek in the exegesis of biblical texts;
  • possess advanced skills in the appropriate and critical use of linguistic and lexical tools for reading New Testament Greek;
  • demonstrate sophisticated skills in analysis, synthesis and evaluation of selected texts and materials studied on the module.
