Indicative Syllabus | a) Definitions and concepts of policy, power and exclusion b) Theories of power and the state c) Framework and operation of the policy process d) Differential impact of current policy and practice on particular groups in relation to age, sexuality, sex and gender, ability and disability, race and ethnicity, social class |
Learning Outcomes | i. Knowledge and Understanding On completion of this module students should be able to: a) Identify issues and critical debates relating to inequality and power in the development and practice of social policies b) Apply theories and concepts of power and inequality to analyse social needs and c) Critically review research on social policy with reference to power and inequality
