Brief Description | The module provides students with an opportunity to reflect critically on the methods and purposes of their subject and/or practice, within the broad context of enquiry, including training in specific methods and/or techniques as preparation for research or professional practice. The module also deals with specific issues relating to research within the context of sport, health, social care and playwork. |
Indicative Syllabus | The module will examine a) The planning of an effective search strategy for use with a variety of sources of information and data b) Definition of context and formulation of questions for primary and secondary research c) Methodological and epistemological approaches used within sport, health, social care and playwork settings d) Ethical issues in differing settings and University guidelines e) Methods of data collection f) Methods of data analysis including the use of computer-assisted data analysis systems g) Tools to assist with critical appraisal h) Use of differing dissemination approaches for data and information |
