Brief Description This module enables students to demonstrate their ability to undertake an individual investigative assignment with direct relevance to their professional practice. This may be an extended critical reflection on an aspect of the student’s own practice or a critical study of a topic of interest to the student and related to their practice.
Indicative Syllabus This is an independent study module and students will be supported by individual tuition. Appropriate research/evaluation methods workshops will be provided to support student learning.
Learning Outcomes

i) Knowledge and Understanding
By the end of the module students should be able to:
a. Conduct an individual investigation of the chosen topic area
b. Critically evaluate published research



ii) Skills
There will be an emphasis on the development of skills in:
a. Independent investigation
b. Systematic review of published research

Learning and Teaching Activities Staff/student contact circa 10% (to include: workshops and individual (tutorials)
Student directed study circa 90%.
