Brief Description | This module will develop student understanding of how environmental conditions impact on the ability of individuals to perform physical activity. The module will consider both the physiological mechanisms through which various environmental conditions exert their effects and the possible strategies that might be adopted to minimise these effects. This module is recommended for students who may be involved in taking people to a hostile environment for sport or recreation. The module will provide students with the skills required to advise individuals on how best to prepare for performing physical activity in hostile environments. In addition, the module will be of use to anyone who has an interest in outdoor adventure type activities. |
