Brief Description This is a student-led, vocationally orientated module that can enable students to build on work placement experiences from previous levels. The module will involve the completion of a substantial work placement (approx 50 hours) that will be negotiated and agreed by the student, the Module Tutor and the Placement Office. Criminal Records Bureau clearance will be required.
Indicative Syllabus The student will be responsible for negotiating a placement with a host agency with the support and agreement of the Module Tutor and Placement Unit. This may represent an opportunity to develop relationships with previous placement providers. It is expected that the placement will allow the student to support the placement provider in delivering or evaluating a specific project or initiative. Such a placement is likely to involve elements of enquiry/problem based learning. Experiential learning will be supported by critical reflection on/critical evaluation of the work placement.
Learning Outcomes

i. Knowledge and understanding
On successful completion of the module the student should be able to:
a) critically evaluate a work or community-based placement experience;
b) utilise relevant transferable skills in a practice setting;
c) exercise appropriate judgement when supporting placement providers in delivering and/or evaluating projects and initiatives.

The learning activities associated with this module are intended to develop the following:

d) reflection on practice.
