Brief Description This module critically examines key contemporary issues within sport science. It will tackle pertinent and relevant sport science topics in a provocative and discursive way. Students will be expected to draw on the knowledge and skills they have gained earlier in the course as they debate important issues within sport science.
Indicative Syllabus

The content of the module will consist of key contemporary issues (at the time of module completion) from the perspective of all sport science disciplines.

Learning Outcomes

i. Knowledge and Understanding
On successful completion of the module the student should be able to:
a) show a critical awareness of the major contemporary issues within sport science;
b) examine and debate the implications of these contemporary issues for the future development of sport science, both as an academic subject and as a profession.



ii. Skills
The learning activities associated with this module are intended to develop the following:

Transferable skills:
a) communication and literacy;
b) problem solving.

Subject specific skills
a) effectively communicate reasoned argument on a range of contemporary issues through various media such as presentation and debate.
