Brief Description | Through a series of topical lectures, sport science support will be located within the landscape of support for the sport performance unit. Students will be encouraged to look beyond issues associated only with direct delivery of sport science to also examine broader socio-cultural factors which impact significantly on sport science provision. Such factors include: mono, inter and multi - disciplinary sport science application; demonstrating support efficacy; communicating effectively to clients; and understanding politics and funding arrangements associated with sport science provision in the UK. |
Indicative Syllabus | This module content will allow the student to examine the role of sport science support alongside other forms of sport performer support. The importance of sport science support will be addressed in the context of World Class Sport. Weekly tasks will enable students to develop a case for sport science support funding alongside medicine, coaching and lifestyle support. |
