Brief Description A fundamental role of performance coaches is to monitor the physiological condition of their athletes in order to optimize training strategies. This module aims to explore different methods of physiological performance testing and their application.
Indicative Syllabus This module will explore both central and peripheral determinants of performance and the sports science (physiology) support that is currently available to coaches. Students will study the theoretical concepts of monitoring and testing performance in a variety of sports and will also take part in a series of laboratory-based workshops. It is recommended that students have studied anatomy and physiology at level 1.
