Brief Description This module will advance knowledge in the teaching and learning of aesthetic activities through experiential and applied opportunities. It aims to develop an understanding of the value and purpose of aesthetic activities within the structure of the National Curriculum for Physical Education. Furthermore it critically analyses current pedagogical practices within relevant contexts.
This module is recommended for students wishing to pursue a career in teaching.
Indicative Syllabus This module will focus on the evaluative competencies of the Physical Education teacher. It is designed to provide opportunities to deliver aesthetic activities in a practical setting and will focus on a critical analysis of the competencies of the teacher practitioner within an applied environment. The experiential basis of the module will be through content that may include: lectures, practical activity and working in an applied context.
Learning Outcomes

i. Knowledge and Understanding
On successful completion of the module the student should be able to:
a) critically analyse pedagogic practice in relation to themselves and others
b) appraise trends and developments in teaching and learning in aesthetic activities
c) demonstrate theoretically informed pedagogic practice



ii. Skills
The learning activities associated with this module are intended to develop the following:
