Brief Description | Subject knowledge in swimming will be developed through practical aquatic activities. The module will develop the ability of students to relate subject knowledge to groups of learners through the selection, delivery and evaluation of appropriate aquatic activities in a safe learning environment. The module is recommended for students wishing to pursue a career in teaching. It will develop the ability of students to analyse and synthesise appropriate subject knowledge for the teaching of aquatic activities. This module is Category A under the University's Active Engagement in Learning Scheme. This means that absence from specified sessions will result in loss of marks (5% from the final module mark for each occasion of non-attendance). |
Indicative Syllabus | This module involves analysis of the body in action through theoretical and practical lectures. Swimming activities covered include: analysis of various recognised strokes; resistance, buoyancy and propulsion. |
