Brief Description | This module will investigate contemporary issues and reflect on developments surrounding the nature of Physical Education. Building on SPE 101 it will identify trends and concerns, and offer opportunity for reflection and debate in relation to teaching and learning within the National Curriculum. This module is essential for those students intending to pursue a career in teaching. |
Indicative Syllabus | This module will focus on the context of Physical Education in the national curriculum as identified through historical trends and developments, policy and practice. It will examine changes in the structure of the National Curriculum for PE post 1988 and explore its current focus and role within the school curriculum. It will appraise issues surrounding teaching and learning within Physical Education through an examination of such issues as assessment, teaching and learning styles and reflective practice. |
