Brief Description | This module further develops student's critical awareness of the key scientific principles underpinning coaching. Application to a range of specific populations will be considered. The module content will reflect the on-going trends and initiatives in coaching and provide the students with valuable and up-to-date knowledge of current practices and approaches. The module is unique in that it draws information from a range of science perspectives to provide the students with a critical awareness of contemporary issues currently not otherwise available from any single discipline. |
Indicative Syllabus | The components of successful sports performance; performance profiling; the development of training programmes; observation and analysis of athlete performance; observation and analysis of coach performance; preparation for competition. |
