Brief Description | This module is aimed at equipping students to plan, develop and deliver specific programme or initiative which is relevant to the student's chosen discipline area. This process will broadly encompass a needs analysis; market rationale and competitor analysis; marketing and promotion; feasibility study, financial planning and budgetary considerations to run community programmes. |
Indicative Syllabus | This module centres on the planning, justification and implementation of a sports community initiative. Module content will briefly encompass; Sporting structures of the UK; Sports policy; Event management; Funding and revenue streams; Sports entrepreneurship; Sports marketing; Health, safety and risk assessment strategies and Sports management. |
Learning Outcomes | A student passing this module should be able to:... 1)Critically analyse the core components of effective project planning and delivery 2) Display critical awareness of democratic processes within contemporary sports organisations and management 3) Appreciate the changing face of the sports industry and how sports entrepreneurship can enhance personal currency. 4) Devise and present a community initiative portfolio to be delivered within the student's own disciplinary area. 5) Appreciate, interpret and apply sound notions concerning event management and sports marketing to practice. |
