Brief Description

This module provides the underpinning knowledge and experience for students to engage in the evaluation of 'real world' sports development projects and to critically reflect on their learning. Reflecting on their experiences during the level 5 SPV ’Managing Community Initiatives’ module, students deliver a review of their work that informs their peers currently studying this module at Level 5. Students then undertake study and critique of business and sports evaluation models, followed by engagement in, and the evaluation of, a ‘live’ sports development project.

Indicative Syllabus

1.    Preparation and delivery of a presentation to level 5 students on your own SP5402 ‘Managing Community Initiatives’ experience

2.    Introduction to evaluation / models and approaches to evaluation / developing and structuring the consultancy report

3.    Engagement with external partners to develop project

 

Learning Outcomes On successful completion of this module the student will be able to: 1. Demonstrate a critical appreciation of reflective practice and evaluation systems; 2. Critically reflect on their own practice and learning; 3. Demonstrate an appreciation of the process of facilitation, consultancy, mentoring and coaching and their relevance to contemporary sports development practice; 4. Critically examine and evaluate contemporary sports development practice.
