Brief Description | This is a student-led, vocationally orientated module that can enable students to build on work placement experiences from previous levels. The module will involve the completion of a substantial work placement (approx 100 hours) that will be negotiated and agreed by the student, the Module Tutor and the Placement Office. Criminal Records Bureau clearance will be required. |
Indicative Syllabus | 1. The student will complete their placement hours over a period of time agreed with the placement provider. 2. There will be a number of lectures delivered at the start of the year to support the student in establishing their placement, and in preparing for the assessment tasks. 3. Each student will identify, or be allocated, a member of university academic staff who will act as their placement supervisor, providing support and guidance when required 4. Assessment tasks will include academic study linked to the placement, and more generic employment based skills |
Learning Outcomes | On successful completion of the module the student should be able to:
1. Critically evaluate a work or community-based placement experience 2. Utilise relevant transferable skills in a practice setting 3. Exercise appropriate judgement when supporting placement providers in delivering and/or evaluating projects and initiatives |
