Brief Description

This module is designed to analyse performance sports development in the context of the sociology of performance sport participation.

Indicative Syllabus

This module explores the concept of performance sports development analysing theory, policy and practice based on sports development frameworks (historic, modern and comparative) and in particular focusses on the experiences of elite sport performers and coaches.

Learning Outcomes

A student passing this module should be able to:

 

1.    Critically evaluate the performance sport theory and policy in a variety of contexts;

2.    Critically evaluate performance sport regulatory and strategic frameworks including sports performance models' theory and practice.
