Brief Description

This module develops an advanced understanding of ethics across a broad range of contemporary issues but with specific reference to professions within sport and exercise.

Indicative Syllabus

This module builds on the issue-driven Ethics and Morality in Sport I to develop an awareness of the theoretical bases that underpin ethics generally and the ethics of sport particularly. Students are provided with a broad grounding in a variety of normative ethical theories and consider how these theories relate to decisions made in the sport and exercise sphere.

Learning Outcomes

A student passing this module should be able to:

  1. demonstrate a systematic understanding of key normative ethical theories;
  2. apply a sophisticated knowledge of normative ethical theories to particular case studies within the sport and exercise fields;
  3. demonstrate awareness of the importance of ethical decision making within the professional realm
