Brief Description | The module aims to enable students to critically analyse and problematise key areas of current professional practice in physical education. Drawing on recent research, and situating traditional debates in contemporary contexts, it addresses current key topics within the subject.
Students are invited to critically reflect upon their own teaching philosophy, pedagogical values and practice in relation to these key influences within the profession of Physical Education.

Indicative Syllabus | The module will draw on recent research and policy to highlight current professional practice in physical education. It will explore the direct and indirect influences of central government, local education authorities, schools, departments and teachers in the development of policy and practice in Physical Education. Content is likely to include an examination of central and local government policies, influences of recent and relevant national initiatives in relation to physical education in schools. |
