Brief Description | This module aims to familiarise students with a range of advanced and alternative training techniques in the fitness industry. Techniques may include plyometrics, kettlebells, stability balls, vibration platforms, TRX and other contemporary techniques. The scientific evidence and underpinning theory supporting their inclusion within training programmes will be analysed, along with their practical application. |
Indicative Syllabus | The indicative content to this module will include: a critical and applied review of interval training, functional training, overtraining, potentially dangerous and ineffective techniques. |
Learning Outcomes | A student passing this module should be able to: 1) Analyse and evaluate critically advanced training techniques; 2) Evaluate critically the role of advanced training techniques; 3) Critique contemporary best practice with regards to the application of advanced training programmes; 4) Review critically the theoretical evidence-base assoicated with advanced training techniques. |
