Brief Description | This module will introduce students to the management of Coronary Heart Disease (CHD) with exercise and lifestyle intervention. Students will gain detailed theoretical knowledge of the condition and will have the opportunity to gain first-hand experience of the delivery of an evidence-based cardiac rehabilitation programme. Students who possess a Level 3 qualification in Exercise Referral may be eligible to upgrade this qualification to a BACPR Exercise Instructor award (additional charge and examination will be required). |
Indicative Syllabus | The indicative content of the module will include: cardiovascular disease physiology; risk factors for CHD and their management; phases of cardiac rehabilitation; common cardiac medications and their implications for exercise; exercise prescription for CHD; risk assessment in cardiac rehabilitation; psychological considerations of the cardiac patient; emergency procedures. |
