Brief Description | The module will introduce students to a variety of key contemporary ethical issues in the area of sport. |
Indicative Syllabus | This module will build upon students’ knowledge and understanding of the philosophy of sport in order to think critically about key ethical issues in sport. While the module is issue-driven it will also develop critical reasoning abilities that should extend to clear thinking about issues in sports generally. It will also introduce students to a range of normative ethical theories and meta-ethical questions. |
Learning Outcomes | A student passing this module should be able to:
1. demonstrate detailed knowledge of a range of ethical issues in sport; 2. demonstrate an awareness of competing positions and arguments relating to ethical issues in sport; 3. evaluate opposing arguments in the light of wider research in the area and informed from their own understanding and knowledge of the issues in question |
