Brief Description

This module provides a practical introduction to the planning and delivery of community based sports and physical activity schemes, and forms part of an inter-related set of vocational modules that provide students with the experience of planning, implementing, evaluating and reflecting on a community sports development project.

Introduction to the module / Meeting external partners / Introduction to the planning process / Project feasibility – PEST / SWOT / Project Planning / Logistics / Marketing / Finance / Human Resource Management / Health and Safety / Risk Assessment and Management / Delivery / Evaluation

Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this module the student should be able to:

 

  1. Analyse, evaluate and apply the core components of effective project planning, management, delivery and evaluation
  2. Display critical awareness of the underlying principles of contemporary sports development practice
  3. Engage with, and demonstrate in practice, a critical awareness of democratic processes within contemporary sports organisations
  4. Apply the core components of effective reflective learning
  5. Develop knowledge and understanding of the event planning process and utilise the knowledge by applying it to a 'real world sports development project

Assessment (For further details see the Module Guide) 001: 60% Coursework: Group work, other: Group Report of 4000, 1300 words each.
002: 40% Coursework: Group work, other: Evaluate Report, 2000 Words per student.
