Brief Description | This module will develop subject knowledge in athletics through experiential learning. Furthermore, it aims to develop the ability of students to relate subject knowledge to groups of learners in both teaching and coaching contexts through the selection, delivery and evaluation of appropriate athletics activities and contemporary learning theories. This module is recommended for students wishing to pursue a career in teaching or coaching. It will develop students' ability to analyse and synthesise appropriate subject knowledge for the teaching and coaching of athletic activities.
This module is Category A under the University's Active Engagement in Learning Scheme. This means that absence from specified sessions will result in loss of marks (5% from the final module mark for each occasion of non-attendance). |
Indicative Syllabus | This module will investigate innovative approaches to the delivery of athletic activities including throwing, jumping and running actions in relation to specific athletic events. The module involves analysis of the body in action through theoretical and practical lectures. |
