Brief Description | This module examines the fundamental concepts of growth and development through a life-span approach, and to develop the knowledge required to develop motor skill proficiency in learners, with particular emphasis on children and young people. |
Indicative Syllabus | This module examines and enhances the knowledge required to understand the components of growth, development and motor skill. Topics covered include: physical growth, development, maturation, aging, motor development, movement control, motor learning and motor skill |
Learning Outcomes | A student passing this module should be able to: · Consider the scientific principles of growth, maturation and aging · Consider the key principles of physical development in relation to exercise when generating and reporting knowledge · Demonstrate awareness of a range of motor behaviour and development issues and interpret their impact on a sports education setting · Communicate effectively an understanding of individual differences and limitations on motor learning and performance · Apply numerical techniques when applying scientific principles; Use a range of information and communications technologies when communicating and reporting knowledge |
