Brief Description | Building on the knowledge and skills gained in SP4015 this module aims to give students a detailed understanding of the anatomy and physiology of the major systems of the body. The emphasis here will be on chronic adaptations that result from safe and effective exercise programmes and the relationship of these adaptations to general health. |
Indicative Syllabus | The indicative content of the module will include: detailed structure and function of body systems; chronic adaptations to exercise; biochemical response to exercise; analysis of movement. |
Learning Outcomes | A student passing this module should be able to: 1) Discuss the basic biochemical and homeostatic responses to exercise; 2) Describe/discuss the chronic adaptations of exercise programmes; 3) Perform advanced kinesiological analyses of movement; 4) Explain the relationship between exercise and health. |
