Brief Description | This module will introduce students to the concepts of joint mobilisation. The module focuses on the safe and effective selection and application of mobilisation techniques for peripheral joints. Practical skills taught cover in-depth assessment of peripheral joint disorders and treatment using a variety of mobilisation techniques. This is underpinned by comprehensive knowledge of the aims and effects of mobilisations, and the anatomy of peripheral joints. |
Indicative Syllabus | The indicative content of the module will include: introduction to aims, effects, indications for and contraindications to joint mobilisations; recognition of common joint dysfunction signs and symptoms; clinical assessment: based on in-depth knowledge of functional anatomy, accurate patient history, observation and a comprehensive physical examination; selection of appropriate mobilisation techniques; application of mobilisation techniques; recognition of the need for onward medical referral. |
