Brief Description

The module will enable students to apply theoretical principles to address sporting challenges within the performance setting. This module encourages students to use the sport science disciplines in a multi-disciplinary and integrated manner, to enhance sporting experiences within a range of contexts. It extends the knowledge and skills developed within SP4006, and provide the basis for applied work at Level 6.

Indicative Syllabus

The indicative content of the module will encourage student to evaluate and apply contemporary knowledge to enhance sporting experiences and performance standards within specific case studies. The student will also examine how each sport science discipline can be applied to provide support for sport performers.

Learning Outcomes

A student passing this module should be able to:

  1. Appraise the supporting role that each sport science discipline can provide for a sports performer;
  2. Evaluate the potential impact of sport science support for performers in a range of sporting contexts;
  3. Apply detailed knowledge from sports science disciplines to enhance sporting performance within a specific sport setting.
