Brief Description | This module progresses from the introductory module SP4003, and in doing so provide students with a more thorough insight into psychological theories, processes and principles that are relevant to both sport and exercise contexts. Students will be encouraged to apply theoretical knowledge to determine how behaviour may be influenced in order to enhance experiences of sport and exercise. While both contexts will be appraised for their relatedness, the marked differences between the ‘sports person’ and the ‘exercise participant’ will underpin the module throughout. |
Indicative Syllabus | The syllabus will be delivered through a series of core themes which define the synergy between sport and exercise psychology. These are likely to include: theories of behaviour change and adherence, motivational theory, aspects of psychological well-being and quality of life, individual differences, concepts of the self, and group dynamics. |
