Brief Description

The module will consider the analysis of a broad range of data types (both qualitative and quantitative) using conventional techniques regularly applied within the Sport and Exercise Sciences. Students will have the opportunity to develop data handling and analysis techniques through a hands-on approach.

Indicative Syllabus

It is intended that the following topics will be covered: Types of data; data organisation; data analysis; analysis outcome interpretation; data presentation.

Learning Outcomes

A student passing this module should be able to:

  1. Identify the appropriate data analysis technique in relation to the type of data;
  2. Conduct appropriate analysis in relation to the type of data;
  3. Explore the link between study design and data analysis;
  4. Present data according to discipline conventions
  5. Interpret data analysis outcomes in sport and exercise research literature.
