Brief Description | The aim of this module is to provide students with an introduction to the structure and function of organised sport provision in the context of the United Kingdom. The module provides an overview of organised sport provision and sports development provision in the United Kingdom. The content of this module forms the foundation context for other modules in the Course, both at this and higher levels, providing directional signs for following contextual modules. |

1. Outline the structure and function of national and local organisations that provide opportunities or governance for organised sport; 2. Provide definitions of sport and discuss the contested concept of Sports Development; 3. Appreciate models of Sports Development.
