Brief Description

This module aims to equip the students with the necessary theoretical and practical knowledge to design safe and effective exercise prescription in a gym environment. There is an option to an undertake industry recognised fitness instructor?s award (recognised by the Register of Exercise Professionals) alongside this module (additional certification fee will be payable).

Indicative Syllabus

Indicative content will include: client appraisal and assessment; exercise instruction; components of fitness; health and safety in a fitness environment; health benefits of physical activity; movement analysis; and an introduction to exercise for special populations.

Learning Outcomes

A student passing this module should be able to:

  1. Demonstrate competency in exercise programming and prescription
  2. Communicate effectively with a range of clients;
  3. Demonstrate knowledge of health and safety requirements in a fitness environment.
