Brief Description | This module aims to describe the work of sport scientists using example scenarios through a lecture programme. Sport science practice will be placed in a broad context to include the role of policy and organisations, for example British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences (BASES). This module will allow the student to examine the role and application of sport science disciplines through practical personal experience. The student will be required to complete supervised investigations which examine the potential impact of each discipline on sporting performance. |
Indicative Syllabus | The indicative content of the module will include: the relationship between the sport science disciplines and their representation within the BASES structure; sport science support in relation to coaching and performance; analysis of the needs of a sport or a sports performer; the role of sports science within skill acquisition; the influence of biomechanical, physiological, psychological, sociological and philosophical factors on practical sporting performance. |
