Brief Description | This module will introduce disciplines and perspectives taken from mainstream psychology including the development of a generic understanding of core areas applicable to sport and exercise psychology. Lectures and seminars will provide the opportunity for collaborative group work and interaction with tutors. This module will equip students with the underpinning knowledge to adopt an evidence based approach to the study of sport and exercise psychological sciences which will be essential for further study at levels 5 an 6. |
Indicative Syllabus | The indicative content of the syllabus will include a series of discipline specific themes, culminating in a student?s capability to understand the relevance and application of psychological theory to sport and exercise contexts. Biological, cognitive, social, developmental, positive, and differential approaches to psychology will be covered, with a focus on mental processes, group dynamics, personality, intelligence, affective states, motivation and developmental systems. |
