Brief Description | The module introduces the student to the structure and function of the human body and provides the underpinning knowledge necessary for studies in the sport and exercise sciences. The central theme will demonstrate the „normal? interaction of structure and function and how dynamic counterbalancing forces maintain homeostasis. A „system based? approach will dominate, although consideration will necessarily be given to the chemical, organelle, cellular, tissue, and organ level. |
Indicative Syllabus | The indicative content of the modules includes: levels of organisation of the human body; the chemical basis of life; structure and function of the cell; the skeletal system; structure and function of the muscular system; structure and function of the nervous system; the endocrine system;structure and function of the cardiovascular system; structure and function of the respiratory system. |
