Brief Description | The module serves as an introduction to Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL/TESOL) and covers the areas of language awareness, methodology and lesson planning. |
Indicative Syllabus | This module will be of interest to students who may be considering a career in TEFL. It is assumed that much of the content will be new to students, including language awareness and methodology. The module covers three areas: Language Awareness which includes development of grammatical terminology and analysis of meaning and use. Methodology which includes how to teach language skills (reading, writing, listening, speaking), grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation. Lesson planning and management which considers the implications of methodology when planning lessons. The module does not provide a recognised professional qualification, however successful students will receive an in house certificate from Cheltenham International Language Centre (CILC). |
