Brief Description | The module aims to reflect theologically on the phenomenon of world religions in order to develop an appropriate missiology and to enable participants to be sensitive to the implications of sports development in different theological contexts. A selection of Christian theologians advocating the three classic approaches of exclusivism, inclusivism and pluralism will be examined, drawing on thinkers from evangelicalism, Protestantism at large, Roman Catholicism and Eastern Orthodoxy. The approach of inter-faith dialogue will be explored in the context of the awareness of the ways non-Christian Faiths have attempted to understand the existence and nature of religions of the world, as well as the fact that they have actually been coloured by their encounter with one another. The role of sport and physical activity, as mediators in this context, will also be evaluated. |
