Brief Description

The aims of the module are to:
1        investigate traditions of spirituality and resources for exploring spirituality
2        explore approaches to spiritual development in a professional context
3        reflect on the theme of faith communities and spirituality
4        investigate the relationship between personal spirituality and professional practice

Indicative Syllabus To introduce and critically analyse resources for exploring and developing spirituality and spiritual development in personal and professional contexts.
Learning Outcomes

At the end of the module, students will be able to:

Knowledge and Understanding
a)       Appreciate the place and relevance of spirituality to their professional and personal development
b)       Have critically analysed the relevance of a specific aspect of spirituality to their professional or personal practice or development.

Disciplinary/Professional Skills
c)       Use one or more approaches to developing spirituality sensitively and appropriately within a youth and community, ministerial or other caring profession context
d)       Be able to engage with empathy and integrity and critical reflection with the convictions and behaviours of others



Learning and Teaching Activities

Staff / student contact: 10% (lectures, seminars, role play, exercises, simulations)
Student directed learning: 90%
