Brief Description

The aims of the module are to:
1        explore how adults learn
2        investigate the role of practice teaching, placement based learning and assessing practice
3        develop training skills
4        Consider current issues, dilemmas and debates in education and training for reflective practitioners

Indicative Syllabus This module explores issues of education and training in relation to reflective practice in youth and community, ministerial and other caring profession contexts.
Learning Outcomes

At the end of the module, students will be able to:

Knowledge and Understanding
a)       Analyse and apply theories of adult learning to their own context
b)       Offer insight and analysis of key issues, dilemmas and debates in education and training for reflective practitioners

Disciplinary/Professional Skills
c)       Be aware of good practice in training and adult education and have assessed own skills in this area
d)       Identify and develop appropriate learning environments for reflective practitioners

Transferable Skills
e)       Planning events and activities
f)       Use IT as a communication and learning tool
