Brief Description | The module examines the various criminal dimensions of contemporary globalisation, their global extent and significance and the roles they play in shaping the socio-economic conditions and development trajectories of key global regions. In doing so it draws on literature from across the social sciences. The module focuses on a range of different forms of organised crime, state and corporate crime and crimes against the environment. It considers these forms of global crime to be extensive and integral aspects of contemporary globalisation and examines their complex relationships to the legitimate society and economy. The module considers various responses to global crime and evaluates their success as well as exploring the relationship between global crime and popular culture. |
