Brief Description | This module allows you to research and develop in detail a particular personal interest in an area of sociology or social policy. You will make a proposal for a project which must be agreed by the module tutor. You will then advised by a tutor with interests in your field of enquiry, and produce a project of 7000 words, often involving some empirical research.
In semester one you will give a presentation on your dissertation and will receive feedback to inform your progress. |
Indicative Syllabus | The student will select a topic for investigation and submit a proposal to the module tutor. When this is agreed, the student will negotiate with a supervising tutor the title and scope of the proposed dissertation and the methods and structure to be used. At a midpoint of the project, each student will present a presentation on the project’s progress, and receive feedback. The student will work independently in carrying out and presenting the project. Each student will be guided by a tutor in tutorials/seminars in producing written work of 7000 words. |
