Brief Description

This module allows students to work on a collaborative project with students from other disciplines within the university, or with external clients.

Indicative Syllabus

The content of the module will emerge in negotiation with the tutor as the aims and objectives of the project are agreed. The emphasis will be on developing projects that necessitate a high level of cross-disciplinary collaboration. This reflects the increase in converged commissioning practices in the media industry. Projects could, for example, take the form of bringing students from courses such as TV, advertising, music, radio, film and animation together. It could also be in terms of providing skills gained whilst on a student’s degree to artists, individuals or outside companies

Learning Outcomes

A student passing this module should be able to :

  1. Demonstrate a secure knowledge of their own core subject and an ability to apply relevant theoretical concepts to a collaborative project
  2. Demonstrate an ability to manage a project, meet deadlines and plan effectively
  3. Demonstrate (where appropriate) control and understanding of issues such as compliance, copyright or relevant permission to film, broadcast record and assign authorship.
  4. Demonstrate a command of theoretical and conceptual material relevant to their selected project
  5. Work with practitioners from other disciplines effectively and understand the importance / relevance of their contribution from their own discipline
